Food retrieval by an O. incrassata whose disc was anesthetized. Following the anesthesia of the disc by L-menthol, this subject did not initiate coordinated arm movements for locomotion when it was placed in artificial sea water. However, the subject demonstrated the ability to retrieve a food (dried shrimp) contacted to its arm, indicating that the inability to initiate locomotion was not due to the spread of the L-menthol to its arms.
