Approximation of a closed contour using Elliptic Fourier Analysis. A given two-dimensional shape can be approximated using EFA by summing n elliptic harmonics as follows: each nth elliptic harmonic traces n clockwise or counter-clockwise revolutions while moving around the previous elliptic harmonic.
