Localization of dynamic actin within dendrite branches of differentiating class IV neurons of 2nd instar larvae, visualized with GMA (green). Dendrite dynamics are visualized with membrane-tagged red fluorescent cherry (magenta; UAS-mCD8cherry) [genotype Gal4109(2)80/+; UAS-mCD8-Cherry/ UAS-GMA]. Images for this time-lapse series were obtained by spinning disc confocal microscopy every 30 seconds over a period of 10 minutes. Arrows point to sites of de novo branch formation. Arrowheads indicate sites of GMA accumulation that do not result in de novo branch formation in the recording. Scale bar = 50 μm.
