GFP-Mem-astrocyte movements induced by co-cultured neurons, related to Fig. 1. Neurons precultured for 10 days, followed by co-culture with GFP-Mem-astrocytes for an additional 2 days. Merged differential interference contrast (DIC) and fluorescence images were collected every 15 min after co-culturing using an inverted microscope (LCV110 Incubator Fluorescence Microscope system; Olympus) equipped with an EMCCD camera (ImagEM, Hamamatsu Photonics) in combination with a spinning disc laser scan system (CSU-X1, Yokogawa Electric Corp.) and imaging software (Metamorph, Molecular Devices). Before experiments, cells were seeded onto glass-bottomed dishes (MatTek) and observed with a 20 Å ∼ NA0.75 lens.
