Self-organizing patterning behaviors of the Sevilletor model. From left to right, two dimensional simulations of the Sevilletor model started with noisy initial concentrations for increasing values of k₁, as shown in Fig. 2E. With k₁ = 0.0 the model forms a lateral inhibition chessboard pattern, with k₁ = 1.0 rotating waves, with k₁ = 2.3 excitable periodic wave patterns with spiral centers, with k₁ = 3.0 a homogeneous pattern and with k₁ = 4.0 a bi-stable salt and pepper pattern.
