Movie 12.

Simulation of Hydra tissue regeneration resulting in a symmetric defect configuration with two +1 defects. Simulation results showing a regenerating tissue spheroid initiated with a partially ordered fiber configuration and no morphogen (Fig. 7C see supplementary Materials and Methods for details). The tissue deformations and the dynamics of the nematic and morphogen concentration fields are modeled through 30 recurring global fiber contraction events (the cycle is indicated). The spheroid is shown from a top view centered on one of the actin foci and a side view. The tissue self-organizes into a configuration with two-aster shaped +1 defects colocalized with two morphogen peaks.
