Modifications of the outer connexosome membrane. Serial sections of ovarian granulosa cells were labeled with anti-Cx43 and 10nm gold. Four separate stacks of images show the full structures of the four modified connexosomes in Figure 2. Modifications include fusion with another vesicle (2A,12 serial sections), separation of the gap junction in part of the vesicle (2B, 6 serial sections) and (2C, 12 serial sections), and loss of Cx43 labeling from the outer membrane (2D, 13 serial sections).
