Fission of the inner connexosome membrane. Serial sections of ovarian granulosa cells were labeled with anti-Cx43 and 10nm gold. Two separate stacks of images show the full structures of the modified connexosomes in Figures 3A (11 sections) and 3B (8 sections). Cx43 is localized primarily to inner vesicles enclosed within a limiting membrane nearly or completely devoid of Cx43 labeling. Scale bars are 250nm.
