Ply knock-out strain has prolonged intracellular survival. Time lapse imaging of tRFP expressing Δply mutant SPN following infection in YFP-Gal8 expressing A549s. Live cell imaging was performed under spinning disc confocal microscope starting at 30 min p.i. Video shows intact tRFP fluorescence signal even after imaging for more than 6 h.
