Movie 14.

Reconstruction of extraglomerular mesangium in adult mouse glomerulus. The afferent arteriole (AA, red) enters and efferent arteriole (EA, red) exits the mouth (glomerular hilum) of the sac-like glomerular basement membrane (GBM, gray). The extraglomerular mesangium (EGM, green) plugs the glomerular hilum like “putty.” The EGM is removed in the movie's latter half, and a cross-section of the mesangial stalk, which connects the EGM to the intraglomerular mesangium (IGM), is visible.
