Extraocular Assay. Behavioral responses to laser light directed on the tail. Wildtype worms have no behavioral response to either red or green light. Ultraviolet (near UV) light on wildtype worms produces a significant tail thinning response, while Smed-TrpA RNAi results in a loss of the tail thinning response to near UV light.
