Movie 3

Coordinated pausing in two animals feeding on algae. Merged transmitted light and fluorescence images showing two animals grazing upon a field of Rhodamonas salina algae (grey particles). The animal on the left pauses ~1.5 min after the start of the movie followed shortly by the animal on the right. Algal lysis is evident by the release of a cloud of phycobillin fluorescence (red) from the algae. The animals remained near each other and paused in coordination 6 times during the 80 min time lapse sequence (only one pause shown).
