ACh-induced ciliary arrest in stigmata of adult Ciona. ACh solutions (0, 3, or 100 μM) were injected into blood sinus between stigmata in fresh preparations of Ciona pharyngeal gills, which elicited ciliary arrest in ciliated cells around the injection needle. Red arrowheads indicate the timing of injection. Duration of arrested status was dose-dependent.
