The noncanonical aster is more resistant to microtubule depolymerization than regular microtubules. Widefield epifluorescence time-lapse video of microtubule dynamics in an extract droplet treated with localized nocodazole administration to the right of the field of view. Diffusion of nocodazole, a microtubule polymerization inhibitor, depolymerized regular microtubules across the field of view, but the noncanonical asters persisted much longer. Related to Fig. 5.
